“Beset” is the album’s climactic chapter — a slow-burning doom epic that narrates the fall of a village
overtaken by cosmic forces. Rooted in classic doom traditions, the track blends plodding heaviness with
expansive, psychedelic progressions.
The b-side “Dark-Light” offers a postscript to the album’s narrative, told from the perspective of the Obsidian
Eye — the eldritch entity consuming humanity. Featuring swirling dual guitar leads and shapeshifting riffs, the
track showcases Hibernaut’s ability to blend heaviness with atmosphere and mood.
A music video for “Dark-Light” will also premiere alongside the release.

Bio
Hibernaut is a heavy hybrid of #doom, #stoner, and #sludge_metal hailing from Salt Lake City, Utah. Formed in
2021 by guitarist/vocalist Dave Jones (Subrosa, Dwellers, Oxcross) and drummer Zach Hatsis (Subrosa,
Dwellers), the lineup quickly solidified with bassist Josh Dupree and, later, lead guitarist Matt Miller
(Thunderfist, Oldtimer). With deep roots in the underground heavy music scene and a sound likened to High
On Fire, Mastodon, and SLEEP, Hibernaut channels decades of collective experience into a thunderous,
progressive assault. Their 2023 debut Ingress earned critical acclaim, landing at
15 on The Doom Charts. The band’s follow-up album, Obsidian Eye, arrives July
11, 2025.
